Tailor Brands is an all-in-one business creation, management, and growth platform. It can help with everything from incorporating an LLC and creating a logo to building a website, setting up a bank account, managing your finances, and filing trademarks.
Really, though, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There’s a lot to it, but does it do everything it claims? Let’s find out.
What Is Tailor Brands LLC?
Tailor Brands covers all of the “how” aspects of starting and running a business, particularly for those that aren’t sure what they need or what steps they need to take next.
It’s truly a one-stop shop for all things business, including:
- LLC formation
- EIN numbers
- Business bank accounts
- Finance management
- Logos and trademarks
- Business insurance
- Licenses and permits
- Graphic design tools
- A website builder
- Website design services
- Attorney-written business documents
- Taxes and bookkeeping
- Professional email addresses
In many cases, it’ll do a lot of the heavy lifting for you, especially when it comes to LLC formation, web design, and licensing. But it won’t be able to do everything on your behalf.
When it can’t, it tells you exactly what steps to take and leaves the big choices up to you—it is purpose-built to simplify your entire business journey, from start to growth, and guide you the entire way.
Is Tailor Brands Legit?
Absolutely.
Tailor Brands has helped millions of entrepreneurs and small businesses since its inception in 2014.
Originally starting off as a company focused on tapping into the power of AI for logo and brand design, it has become so much more.
Making a major pivot during Covid, Tailor Brands was able to help even more people start and build the businesses they had been dreaming of, by consolidating the slew of steps needed to start and run a business all in one easy-to-use service.
In 2021, with an investor list led by the website and domain powerhouse, GoDaddy, Tailor Brands secured $50 million in funding. As of 2023, Tailor Brands has amassed over $70 million in funding, showing that they are continuing to grow and are here for the long haul.
Tailor Brands has even been featured by huge names like USA Today, Forbes, and Digital Journal, just to name a few.
What makes Tailor Brands more legit than ever, is that it continues to work towards becoming the go-to, all-in-one, end-to-end, business-building solution for entrepreneurs and SMBs with new innovations, integrations, and partnerships.
Is Tailor Brands Worth It?
You can get everything Tailor Brands offers somewhere else. There are dedicated LLC formation services, logo makers, website builders, business bank accounts, etc. that specialize in these areas.
So, does it really make sense to get it all together in one place? The answer is… it depends.
If you’re a new entrepreneur who has no idea what they’re doing, Tailor Brands’ comprehensive suite paired with expert guidance can save you a lot of time and hassle.
It can make the difference in getting your business off the ground next week vs. months or even years from now. It also ensures you do everything the right way, the first time. It really is a matter of how much you know and how much time you have.
Tailor Brands LLC: The Good and the Bad
Tailor Brands does just about everything for those who are unsure how to start a business. With its beginner-friendly tools and services combined in one place, it provides a tailored step-by-step business creation outline.
Add in competitive pricing, and it’s fair to say that Tailor Brands does a lot of things very well.
As perfect as it sounds, Tailor Brands does have a few downsides worth considering—but chances are, they won’t be deal breakers.
What Tailor Brands Is Good At
End-to-end business builder: The best element of Tailor Brands is that it takes you from not knowing where to start to having an officially registered LLC with a logo, business cards, a professional website, and a whole lot more. There aren’t many other companies out there that combine so much into one offering.
From the start, Tailor Brands’ “Guidance Engine” assesses your business via a series of questions. From there, it develops a unique, step-by-step plan for you to get your business up and running. You can jump around and complete steps as needed or follow it step-by-step.
Easy LLC formation: Incorporating your business is often a challenging and lengthy process, especially if you try to do it on your own. With Tailor Brands, all you have to do is answer a few questions. In a matter of minutes, you’ll have a completed application. It’ll also help you apply for an EIN number if you need one.
On top of that, Tailor Brands offers help with operating agreements, official business documents, annual compliance, business insurance, and registered agent services to accept legal correspondence for your business.
Doc, permit, and trademark assistance: If you ever need help with contracts or service agreements, you can get custom attorney-produced business documents you can use however you’d like. You’ll also be able to get assistance with registering a trademark to protect your business’s name–all you have to do is answer some questions and Tailor Brands will submit your application for you.
If you need local, state, or federal licenses and permits, including sales tax permits, they can help with that too.
Finance management: Creating a business bank account isn’t necessarily a requirement (depending on your state), but it’s always a good idea to keep personal and business transactions separate. Tailor Brands can help you get set up with a bank account to get started on the right foot. With it, you’ll be able to manage and keep track of invoices, too.
If you don’t have a CPA, Tailor Brands can also help with taxes and bookkeeping so your finances are always in order–this makes tax season a breeze.
Logos and graphics: Tailor Brands began as a logo and design company, and it’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into its design tools. For a logo, you’ll answer a few questions about your business and the type of logo you want. Within seconds, you’ll have dozens of logo designs to choose from.
You’ll also be able to create a custom theme with your brand colors and fonts to maintain consistency in all of your designs, whether you’re creating a business card, social media graphics, or branded merchandise.
Website builder: Speaking of designs, Tailor Brands has made designing your own professional website incredibly easy with its built-in, drag-and-drop website builder. No worrying about coding, web hosting, or how to navigate complex backends—you can design and build your entire site in one place.
There are dozens of customizable templates you can start with. You’ll then be able to use custom rules to build in elements like Popups, get started selling your products and services with its ecommerce features, or use its built-in SEO suite to optimize your site for search. The website builder also has integrated access to thousands of photos, stock images, and icons.
Tailor Brands can also set you up with a domain name and professional email account, too.
If you need extra help or don’t want to worry about building your website on your own, you can hire Tailor Brands to design and build one for you.
Excellent customer service: Tailor Brands’ customer service exceeded our expectations. From the speed of response to thoroughness of the team’s answers, the Tailor Brands customer service team was up to the challenge. We had some inquiries around pricing and how its website hosting worked, and the team wasted no time answering all of our questions and concerns.
On top of that, one of the reps was generous enough to provide some excellent advice on which plan would be the best fit for us.
Beyond customer service in the traditional sense, Tailor Brands has a self-service knowledge base on its website that is extensive and easy to navigate. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, you can talk with an AI bot, start a live chat with a human agent, shoot them an email, or give them a call directly–the number’s always on screen so you never have to go searching.
Tailor Brands’ Potential Drawbacks
Additional costs: Tailor Brands offers tools and services outside of its core packages. For example, you can apply for your EIN number through the IRS for free. Or, you can opt in for Tailor Brands’ one-time fee of $99 to have them do it for you. Is that a hefty markup? Perhaps. But they do all the leg work for you—you’re paying for convenience.
The same is true for business tools like Invoices & Bookkeeping, trademarks, bank accounts, and attorney-written documents—they’re visible in the dashboard, but you’ll have to pay if you want to use them.
Lack of flexibility: To simplify the process, Tailor Brands has made a lot of decisions for you. For example, choosing to set up your business bank account through the provider means that you will be banking with Bank of America. Since it is the predesignated banking choice, you’ll have no other alternative if you want to keep everything integrated within Tailor Brands.
The same goes for choosing business insurance with NEXT—they’re what you get. Of course, this isn’t entirely a bad thing. All of Tailor Brands’ preset options are excellent choices in their own right.
If you use the website builder, you won’t be able to move your website somewhere else later. You’ll have to rebuild it from scratch (this is a problem with ALL website builders, though).
Limitations: Tailor Brands services are meant for one business and one website. If you want to use its services for more than one, you’ll have to purchase multiple subscriptions.
When you sign up, you get one logo, according to its FAQ section in the dashboard. It notes that, “each Tailor Brands subscription is linked to one logo only. All of the assets that are included with your purchase will be based off the logo that it’s bought with, and all different designs will need their own subscription and assets.”
We did reach out to a customer service rep to confirm this, and received a slightly different reply: “Although Tailor Brands doesn’t offer unlimited logos, the Basic plan includes one logo, the Standard plan includes two logos, and the Premium plan includes five.”
Either way, one logo (or five) is all most people should need. But it lacks the option to expand beyond that if you ever need to.
Tailor Brands’ Products, Plans, and Pricing
Tailor Brands pricing is very straightforward.
Lite–Free LLC Filing
Perhaps our excitement earlier about Tailor Brands’ free offering was overlooked: Tailor Brands’ Lite offering is completely free—you only pay your state’s LLC filing fees, which vary by state.
Tailor Brands files all of your LLC paperwork and, if you don’t pay extra for expedited processing, you can expect to have a registered LLC within 14 days. It’s as simple as that.
Essential–LLC Filing + Annual LLC Compliance
The Essential plan is ideal for those new business owners that don’t want to deal with the annual compliance that is required to maintain an LLC—each year, you’ll have to file a business report for the upkeep of your LLC, and pay your state’s fees. But with the Essential plan, Tailor Brands takes care of that for you.
For $199 per year, Tailor Brands does all of the necessary paperwork, including your operating agreement.
Elite–Filing, Compliance, and Marketing Tools
For $249 per year, you can subscribe to Tailor Brands Elite plan, which gives you a lot more than just LLC filing and maintenance.
On top of processing your LLC within two days, developing an operating agreement, and handling your annual compliance, the Elite plan gives you everything you need to go from idea to fully established business with an online presence.
Here’s what you get:
- 1-year free domain
- Logos
- Website builder
- Online store features
- Business cards tool
- Digital business cards
- Social media post maker
The Elite plan is only available as a one-year subscription, so if you were hoping for a longer-term contract (or a month-to-month subscription), you’ll have to reach out to the Tailor Brands’ team to see what they can do for you.
But for just $20.75 per month, the Elite plan packs in a ton of value.
Basic–Logo and Branding Assets
The Basic plan is a good choice if you don’t need help with business formation and have basic website needs. With monthly options starting at $9.99, a yearly subscription at $3.99 per month, and a two-year term for $2.50 per month, it’s extremely affordable to get started.
This plan includes:
- High quality logo files
- Full ownership of your logo
- Social media logo sizes
- Logo resize tool
- Digital card
- Graphic design tool
- Unlock all design templates
- Upload your own images
- Access stock photos & icons
- 3-page mini website builder
- Connect your domain
You can easily test out logo designs, work with various templates, and create a 3-page website to establish your brand. From there, you can upgrade as you grow.
Standard–Branding Assets + a Website Builder
The Standard plan builds on Basic and you can try it for one month for $19.99. You can get started with the longer one and two-year contracts—which we always recommend for best value—for $5.99 or $4.99 per month, respectively.
Here’s what’s included:
- Vector EPS files of your logo
- Business card tool
- Branded business deck
- Branded presentation
- Seasonal logo generator
- 1-year free domain
- Full website builder
- Multi-language support
- Personalized visitor experiences
For just a few dollars more per month, the Standard plan gives you the tools to build up your brand identity, establish a business foundation, and design a professional business website.
Premium–Branding Assets + an Ecommerce Store
The Premium subscription is built with one thing in mind: online stores. The Premium plan includes everything in the Standard plan, plus:
- Create an online store
- Sell up to 100 products
- Coupons and discounts
- Accept online payments
- Chat with your website visitors
For those entrepreneurs who know that ecommerce is where they are headed, the Premium plan has the tools and features to create an online store that gets your products in front of customers, engages shoppers, and converts sales.
Business Coaching
Tailor Brands also offers a 12-week coaching program offering business owners guidance on topics like taxes, compliance, and digital marketing. Participants get access to on-demand courses, optional hands-on activities, and a personalized business plan. The program is available with any plan purchase, aiming to help entrepreneurs run successful businesses.
Final Thoughts
While you can get everything Tailor Brands offers on your own, its true value lies in how simple it makes the entire process of starting a business, filing for an LLC, building a website, and designing a brand.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or don’t know where to begin, it’s a (legit) option you can try for free.
