Can I test a page that requires a login?
CrazyEgg doesn’t currently support testing pages that require a login or require an HTTP POST.
This is because of the way our system works. We actually have two systems that use your test url. Tracking and Reporting.
It is easy to setup a test that tracks pages behind a login, as long as directly accessing the url from our servers results in a 200 OK response from your server.
Reporting on login only pages is not currently possible since our reporting server can’t login before accessing your page and doesn’t support HTTP POST.
Our Reporting servers need to be able to access the url and download a copy of your webpage to be able to then display the data on it.
Since we can’t report data on a login-only page, we block you from creating a test for a url that our servers cannot access.
We are working on some advanced technology for the future that will address this and many other scenarios, stay tuned…
